Tile Export Tax Rebate to Be Cancelled Starting April 1st

Jan 13, 2026

Recently, Chinese authorities have issued an important announcement, clearly stating that starting from April 1st, 2026, the export tax rebate policy for tiles and related ceramic building materials will be cancelled. This includes common categories such as construction tiles, floor tiles, and roof tiles. The original export tax rebate amount will be fully abolished, with the rebate rate uniformly reduced to 0. Upon release, this news has quickly attracted widespread attention from China's tile export industry.

For tile export enterprises, the cancellation of tax rebates will have far-reaching impacts—it means a direct increase in corporate tax burden, a subsequent rise in tile product costs, and further compression of profit margins. The impact will be particularly pronounced for small and medium-sized enterprises that already operate on thin profits. As a major hub for ceramic building materials exports in China, Foshan has seen most local tile and building materials enterprises urgently sorting out existing orders and making every effort to complete customs declaration and shipment before the end of March, so as to maximize the benefits of the remaining tax rebate policy.

In response to this policy adjustment, many enterprises have begun optimizing order management: splitting large orders into parts, delivering a small batch before April, and fulfilling the remaining part after April. This approach helps balance tax rebate gains and delivery cycles. In fact, this adjustment to the tile export tax rebate presents both challenges and opportunities for industrial upgrading to the industry.

A special reminder here: if you have plans to purchase tiles from China for export, it is necessary to accelerate the relevant arrangements and try to complete customs declaration and shipment after the Spring Festival. Once the tax rebate cancellation takes effect on April 1st, tile costs will inevitably rise, leading to a significant increase in procurement costs at that time.
